The following points may be included in students’ responses:

• The Constitution guarantees fairness in the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Eighth and Fourteenth Amendment. This is important to me because it protects me from being punished or abused by the government.
• It guarantees that the government must prove there is a good reason before placing me under arrest and holding me in jail.
• Due process guarantees that the government cannot take my property without paying a fair price for it.
